Adventists Holds First Fun Run

The Metro Laguna 1 District of San Pedro, Laguna Seventh-day Adventists held its first district wide 7-K Fun Run in Brgy. Langgam, San Pedro, Laguna on May 20,2012, with the theme Alay Takbo Tungo sa Dakilang  Pagbabago. The race started in .

For the male category, the winners are: 1st Michael Abanador, 2nd Derek Amarante, 3rd Dominique Esguerra. For the female, the winners are: 1st Josephine Mendoza, 2nd Mac Grace Dicohso, and the 3rd placer is Charlene Aquino.

The event was organized by the youth of Langgam Church, headed by Ms. Mary Grace A. Ambayec, the event coordinator, and was supported by the whole district. Several local government officials sponsored and joined the fun run, among them were former Laguna Congressman and former Bureau of Immigration Commissioner , Roy M. Almoro,  Hon. Carlo M. Almoro, board member, 1st district of Laguna, Atty. Melvin A. Matibag, former General Manager of Ninoy Aquino International Air Port, together with professional Chef Niña A. Almoro. The NGO “Kabalikat” did the marshalling.

Many Adventists and non-adventists joined the event. According to the District leader, Pastor Joel A. Romero, the said fun run is the first, and that there will be an another one next year, and that the purpose is to promote healthy lifestyle, that it is the natural way of preventing Diabetis, and many other kinds of “tis”. Atty. Matibag on his part testified, that he lost weight dramatically since he started running a few months back.

All the sponsors gave a speech prior to the awarding. They all bid farewell to the organizers and participants, but promised to return next year for the next district wide fun run.
